Dental Crowns and Bridges in Mississauga

Restore the strength, look, and function of damaged or missing teeth.

A cracked tooth, a heavily filled tooth, or a gap where a tooth used to be, these aren’t just cosmetic concerns. They affect how you eat, how you speak, and how the rest of your teeth hold up over time. At Destiny Dental in Mississauga, crowns and bridges are a practical, long-lasting solution.

ABOUT THIS SERVICE

What Are Dental Crowns and Bridges?

A crown is a cap that fits over a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. It protects what’s left of the natural tooth while letting it function completely normally. Crowns are also placed after root canal treatment to protect the treated tooth from fracturing over time.

A bridge fills a gap created by one or more missing teeth. It consists of a false tooth held in place by crowns on the neighbouring teeth. The result is a fixed, natural-looking restoration that doesn’t come in and out like a partial denture. Most crowns and bridges at our Mississauga clinic are made from porcelain or ceramic, designed to blend with your natural teeth.

WHO CAN BENEFIT

When Do You Need a Crown or Bridge?

There are several situations where a crown or bridge is the most sensible solution. If you’re unsure whether your tooth needs a filling or something more, a quick exam at our Mississauga clinic will give you a clear answer.

Cracked or fractured tooth

A crack that goes deep enough can't be held together by a filling. A crown seals and protects it.

Severely decayed tooth

When decay takes up too much of a tooth for a filling to work, a crown is what holds everything together.

After a root canal

Teeth treated with root canals become more brittle over time. A crown protects them from cracking.

Missing tooth or teeth

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth without surgery, using nearby teeth as anchors for a fixed result.

Worn down teeth

Teeth ground down from bruxism or acid erosion can be built back up with crowns to restore proper function.

Cosmetic improvement

Badly shaped or discoloured teeth can be covered with a crown. For purely cosmetic improvements on healthy teeth, veneers may be a better fit.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Patients often have a few questions before committing to a crown or bridge. Here are honest answers.

Still have questions?

Our friendly team is here to help. Reach out to us anytime for assistance.

Typically two appointments spaced about two weeks apart. The first prepares the tooth and takes impressions. The second places the permanent crown or bridge.
Both procedures are done with local anesthetic. You shouldn’t feel pain during the appointment. Some tenderness afterward is normal and usually fades within a few days.

Same as natural teeth. Brush and floss daily, avoid chewing ice or very hard foods, and keep up with your regular cleanings at our Mississauga clinic. Bridges need flossing under the false tooth with a floss threader.

It’s uncommon but possible, especially with the temporary crown. If it happens, call us right away. We’ll see you quickly and recement it.
